RM of Canaan’s story
The Rural Municipality of Canaan No. 225 was incorporated as a rural municipality on January 1, 1913. It lies in southwestern Saskatchewan, and the village of Lucky Lake sits within its boundaries. The RM office is in Lucky Lake, and the unincorporated localities of Bernard and Greenbrie are also found here.
Today the RM is run by an elected council and an appointed administrator, who meet on the second Thursday of each month. Several provincial highways cross the area, including Highways 42, 45, 373, 646 and 737, and Lucky Lake has its own airport. The Riverhurst Ferry is also part of the local transportation network.
Visitors can stop in at the Lucky Lake Heritage Museum, explore the Lucky Lake Heritage Marsh, take the Riverhurst Ferry, or head to Palliser Regional Park.
